Brooklin's Jam!

You all have heard all about my cutie pie niece Brooklin. Well, I have to tell you a funny little story. Now, Brooklin is always the one who is always ready and willing to talk to her Aunt Sheri on the phone (she lives in California). Her brother and sister are usually off doing something else but she always makes time to talk to me. My mom, who Brookin calls Me Ma, had stayed with them for a couple of months when my sister had her baby in March. While Me Ma was there, she had made some homemade jam for Brooklin that she just LOVED!

Well, a couple of weeks ago, I was talking to Brooklin on the phone and she wouldn't hardly talk to me. She asked me right away, "Is Me Ma there?" I said, "Yes she is." She said, "I want to talk to her." I replied, "Ok you can talk to her later, talk to me right now." Brooklin continued, "I want to talk to Me Ma" ....after going back and forth like this too long, she finally said, "I want to talk to Me Ma....I have to tell her something." So I gave up and handed the phone to my mom.

First thing Brooklin says is "Me Ma, I'm all out of jam. Will you make me some more?" Well of course, Me Ma melted. So once Brooklin got that off her chest, we were able to have our regular conversation.

Well, being the good Me Ma she is, my mom bought some peaches and made Brooklin some jam to ship to her. Well, I couldn't have her just pack up the boxes and jars and ship them without cutifying them just a bit! Now before you go thinking I'm all Martha Stewart like and canning and making jams, I want to tell you I had nothing to do with these jars other than adding the fabric and tags! Just so we're clear!
So I just cut some fabric circles and tied them with ribbon using the wonderful Elle's Studio printable tags that you can get here. I love these tags and have used them over and over. And they are so easy to add text to before printing them out if you choose to do that. I just used my circle punch and they were done!

Hope you enjoy your jam Brooklin!

Also, check out Elle's Studio blog today.....I'm spotlighted there!

Lazy Summer Days

Happy Saturday! Just thought I'd share a quick digital page with you today! It's been a while since I stepped away from the paper and went digi, so I thought I'd throw one out today!

This one is of my nieces and nephew enjoying the pooltime fun and sun!

I used the Bazinga Mini Kit from Shimelle Digitals at Two Peas.

I love this kit! It has such great summer colors and a whole alphabet too!

Have a great weekend!

P.S. If you've left me previous comments, please bear with me....I'm trying to change over to a new comment hosting site and it's taking time to transfer my comments over, so right now it shows zero comments.....I will get them back! Thank you for taking the time to leave me some love!

Scrap Tiffany Challenge with Magpie Sketch

This week's challenge is posted at Scrap Tiffany! I love this one too. The challenge is simple....create using black and white photos! Yeah! I love using black and white photos. To me, there are some some pictures that scream black and white! I love how using a black and white photo cuts out the distracting colors and backgrounds to just focus on the person in the photo.

I created my layout using this month's sketch from Magpie Club. Julie Bonner did an awesome job with this one. I love using the Magpie Club sketches!
Here is my layout based on the sketch:

Patterned Paper: Cabbage Rose (yellow gingham), Vintage Patchwork (patchwork pieces), Shabby Flower (pink floral), Newsprint Stripe (pink text strip), Paisley (green polka dot), Die Cut Wallpaper (pink floral die-cut paper) all from The Girls Paperie
Alphas and word stickers: Sticker Market, The Girls Paperie
Flowers, butterfly, rhinestone flower centers: Prima
Paint: Poinsetta Pink, Shimmerz Paints
Other: pearls, trim, pink organza fabric.

I have so many beautiful photos of my new niece, Adoration, that I haven't yet scrapbooked! I have been taking advantage of the gorgeous Girls Paperie line.... I am in love with that whole line. I haven't found anything I haven't liked! Can't wait to see what Margie's releasing at CHA!

I added a little swag using a string of pearls and pink organza fabric. Love the look of the pearls with the sweet papers and the softness of the organza.

Lately it seems my scrapbooking elements have come from items from the fabric store instead of scrapbooking elements! There are lots of great trims, fabrics and other notions in the fabric section of your stores. Take a peek next time you're there!

The other designers at Scrap Tiffany have some great inspiration on the blog today! I'm amazed at what a talented team we have. Be sure to go check it out here.

Also, be sure to check out Magpie Club's sketch challenge here. You can also get in the fun there too! While you're there, check out Tara's awesome kits. I get them every month and they are amazing!

Have a great Monday!

Ready, Set, Blow!

Here's another one of my layouts completed for Elle's Studio. You can view it in the inspiration gallery here.

This is a layout of my niece Brooklin on her 6th birthday! I love this girl!

Cardstock: Bazzill Swiss Dots; Patterned Paper: Nerdy Bird, Sassafras Lass; Tags: Birthday Tags, Birthday Note Tags, Vintage Number Flash Cards, Date & Place Strips, The Details Tiny Tags, all from Elle’s Studio; Punch: 2” circle punch, Fiskars; Letters: Vera and Sprinkles Thickers, American Crafts; Ribbon: American Crafts; Spray Ink: Twinkling H2O’s Shimmering Mist in Guatemalan Green, Lemon Drop, Jasmine, by LuminArte; Other: Black felt pen, Scotch ATG adhesive, dimensional adhesives

Isn't she just the cutest? I'm missing her soooo much right now so I'm gushing at the sight of her pictures. She has the most vibrant, lively personality. I wish you could all know her. She lights up my world when she's around (as all my kids do!). She will never let you have a down day. She sees the world in a completely different light than anyone I've ever seen before. I do hope she carries her personality into her adult life. Can you tell I miss her like crazy?

I used several of Elle's Studio tags which I absolutely adore! The green tag is from Elle's Birthday Note Tags set.

These tags are the Birthday Circle Tags. They fit perfectly on the Martha Stewart Die Cut Lace Tags, which I FINALLY found! I had been looking for them everywhere!

For more great ideas and inspiration, head over to Elle's Studio Gallery for a look at all the designers great projects this month!

And now....I'm heading out for a Hobby Lobby and Joann's run! Have a great day!

Tongue Wars!

Bet that title caught your eye, huh? Well, this week's challenge at Scrap Tiffany is to create a layout using "ugly" photos. I was having a really hard time because I just couldn't find any ugly photos. I usually delete really bad photos that I know I'll never use, and even if they are bad of someone, I certainly wouldn't spend my time creating a layout about it, so I delete them!

I did have these photos! Now while they are not "ugly" to me, they are photos that maybe not everyone would scrapbook about. I thought they were actually cute, of course, because of the subjects! My niece and my daughter were playing around and my niece was showing her taco tongue, then Ashley showed her taco tongue. We were commenting on how long both of their tongues were. So, they both stuck their tongues out to see whose was longer. It was actually quite funny because my little niece, Brooklin, was having the best time! So these are the photos I used!

Supplies used:
Cardstock: DCWV
Patterned Papers: Birds Eye View and Tweet from Flying High Collection, My Little Shoebox
Die Cuts: Flying High, MLS
Letters: Sprinkle Glaze Alphas, MLS
Ribbon: Dear Lizzy, American Crafts
Other: Button, bakers string, pop dots

I did a lot of fussy cutting on this layout, cutting out the cute elements on the paper. I love the MLS papers! They are so adorable and have so many elements to match.
So make sure you check out Scrap Tiffany for all the other designers layouts! I know Tiffany is still traveling on her move so if you don't see the post there right away, make sure you check back. She's been having internet issues on the road, but will definitely get it posted today!

Happy Birthday and other good stuff

Happy Birthday Brooklin!
She's 6 years old today!

I received a call bright and early this morning from my niece Brooklin, who lives in California. It was 6:45 am her time. When the phone rang from my sisters number, I wondered what was going on because she never calls me that early. With four kids, morning time is a zoo trying to get everyone ready and out the door for school (this is their last day!). When I answered I hear this little voice on the other end saying, "Hi Aunt Sheri! Today's my birthday! I'm SIX!!!" Well needless to say, my heart melted! It was my little Brooklin, so excited and happy about her birthday that she wanted to call and tell me everything she was doing for the day.

Then she goes on and asks me, "Can I be on your blog today?" How cute is that? My kids have gotten used to seeing their birthday posts on my blog and now they come to expect it and look forward to it. "Of course you will be!" I replied to her. I was already on it and told her to check my blog when she gets home from school. She was a happy camper. So, to honor Brooklin on her sixth birthday, here's a few photos of her personality!

(Beware, this is a photo-laden post but I have a very special six year old wanting to see herself plastered all over Aunt Sheri's blog and Aunt Sheri NEVER lets her kids down!)

I wish you could know this kid. She is the most amazing little girl. She is just so happy all the time. She has a huge stubborn streak in her that can be endearing at times (others not so much!). She knows what she likes and there is no swaying her. She is perfectly content to play by herself, not really needing anyone or any attention to keep her happy. When she does play with kids, she's usually playing with the boy stuff....she's a tomboy through and through.

Have to share a story here: It was Easter last year and my sisters family had some friends over for a BBQ and Easter fun. Well my sister was in the kitchen and happened to look outside the window to the backyard. She looked at just the right time....Brooklin was at the top of the slide with her brothers skateboard and rode the skateboard down the slide! Needless to say, my sister didn't get the chance to stop her....it was already done! She loved it!

So Happy Birthday to my girl Brooklin!
Your Aunt Sheri loves you very very much!
I love you to the sky and back 10 billion times!
I love you more than peanut butter and chocolate!

Have fun and eat lots of cake!
---------------------------------------------------------

Now on to other the business of my blog! Thank you for indulging me in the birthday post for my niece!

It's time to post the winner of the Color Challenge issued last week! We only had two that uploaded their layouts and I wanted to share them both with you!

Roulien S
You can visit her blog here:
http://my-scrappy-story.blogspot.com/

The second one submitted was from
Liz Kordek
You can visit her blog here

I think they both did a wonderful job with the color challenge. Using colors that maybe normally we would grab to put together. But I just love how they made them work. Thank you both for participating!

The winner was chosen by random drawing....since there was only two, they had a 50% chance of winning! LOL

And the winner is......

CONGRATULATIONS LIZ!

And because it's Brooklin's Birthday, I'm going to send
a package of goodies to Roulien too!

Email your info to
auntierere@bellsouth.net
so I can get your prize out to you!
Thanks girls for participating!

I already have another color challenge in mind, so keep an eye out for that post!
