One Blessed Aunti

This week's challenge for Scrap Tiffany was a stretch for me.....create a two page layout! Do you know how long it's been since I created a two page layout? And to think that is all I used to do. Well, I plunged ahead and decided to just go for it! Here's my layout for the challenge:

I know it's kind of hard to see the details because it's so small trying to fit the spread on my blog page so here's shots of the left and right pages.....

LEFT
This layout is full of Sassafrass Lass! I thought it just went perfect for a layout about my kiddos!
RIGHT
I created the scallop shape by using the Cutting Cafe's Shaped Card Set.
I have just discovered the Cutting Cafe and I'm addicted....that's all I have to say.
I'll be sharing a post soon with more about that!

Most of the flowers were cut on my Cricut with my new Bloom cartridge. Then just layered with other flowers and buttons.
I still love these Maya Road scallop envelopes!

So that is my two page layout for the challenge! What about you? Are you up for it? We'd love to see what you create with your two page layout. Email it to Tiffany so she can share it on the blog! And don't forget to check out the other designers two page layouts....

Hope your Monday is fantabulous! (Not that that's a word....just sounded fun!)

Scrap Your Space

Happy Monday! You know what that means.....it's a new challenge for Scrap Tiffany! This week's challenge is to create a layout about your scrap space.

At first I thought I might just skip this one....I don't have a huge scrap room like others I've seen with all the latest and greatest storage options and huge counters....I have a little alcove off of our living area. But then I thought, wait a minute, it doesn't matter how big the room is where you create....all that matters is that you CREATE!

Before we moved from California, I used to have a big room all to myself! My very own room with shelves and tables for creating, with a closet for lots of storage. Then we we moved to Tennessee, we moved to a much smaller place, which was only a temporary place until we found something larger. Well, two years later, we're still here in our small home. It wasn't long after we moved, that I began to get crazy because I couldn't make stuff! I hadn't unpacked any of my scrap supplies because I thought it was going to be so short term and since I didn't have a place for it all, I just left it packed up in storage.

Well hubby knew I needed to get my hands back on my scrapping. He suggested we use the small area off our living room and just take out a few things that I really needed to keep me scrapping. I could never unpack it all because I had so much. So that's what we did! I have ended up adding even more since then because I'm in full swing scrapbooking and creating! And you know what? I love my little space. It's my little corner and my family knows to stay out! Don't be using my scissors, glue or anything else, without asking! So even though it's in plain view, I don't mind because it's what I do.

So, here's my layout about my li'l corner of my world!
I'm so very grateful for the space that I have. Because even though it's not the biggest or the greatest, I know there are others that struggle to create in areas even smaller than mine and others would love to have even the small space I do. So, I am grateful for my little corner!

Can you tell I like red? When my sister was here visiting last, she helped me reorganize everything. I purged soooo much stuff. We found these great red canvas boxes that are wonderful! I love how they look on my shelves and they hold so much.

For my layout, I created my own background paper using some gesso, some acrylic paint watered down a little, and some color wash sprays. At first, I wasn't sure if I was going to like how bright and "rainbow-ish" (is that a word?) it turned out but once I got my photos, papers and embellishments on it, I liked it!

So, now it's your turn! We want to see your space! Complete a layout or project about your space and send it to Tiffany so she can share it on the Scrap Tiffany blog! Come on....we want to see!

Have a great day!

Thrifty Thursday!

Today is Thrifty Thursday at ScrapTiffany and I hosted the blog for the thrifty tip so I wanted to share it with you here.

A week or so ago, my daughter called me from work and asked me if I could do her a huge favor! She had special dinner plans with her girlfriend that night and was going to be giving her a special gift…. it was the friend she was asking to be maid of honor for her wedding! However, she forgot to wrap the gift! Could I do that for her? Of course, I’d be happy to.

Then I start to gather my wrapping materials only to realize she never purchased a gift bag or box for her gift! Well, that’s just great! It’s storming like crazy outside and I don’t even have my car today so going to buy a bag was not an option. So I had to get creative!

I know we all keep some of those great shopping bags we get from the mall, right? Please tell me I’m not the only one! They are great bags to reuse for lots of things. So I got the idea to repurpose one of those for my daughter’s gift. Obviously, we could not use the bag with “The Secret” written all over it so my scrapbooking brain went to work!

So for absolutely no cost, just recycling a shopping bag and using up some scraps I had, I was able to come up with really cute and personalized gift bag that would have cost at least $5 or $6 bucks in the store! Now if that’s not thrifty, I don’t know what is! Not to mention how excited her friend was to get such a cute bag personalized just for her!

Have a happy Thursday!

We Are Family

This week's challenge at Scrap Tiffany is all about "Family". That's an easy one for me! I have the best family! We are all so close and love being together. I have one brother and one sister. I have the best sister in law and brother in law. And don't even get me started on the kids! I could be here for days! Oh, wait.....the layout....yeah that's what this post is about! See what I mean?

Here is my layout on family:

I used my May Magpie Club kit for this layout. With the exception of a few small embellishments that I added (Jenni Bowlin ticket and journaling tag, yellow Prima flower, and Hambly transparency).

I have not made too many of these spiral flowers yet, but I love the look of them so I thought I'd practice some more by making some. I was happy with the way they turned out.

You can go over to Scrap Tiffany and check out the other designers layouts and projects. The designers did an awesome job this week. You can also create your layout and send it to Tiffany...we'd love to see it!

Now on to the giveaway!

I just wanted to thank everyone for stopping by on the hop and leaving such nice comments. I read every one of them!

But we only have one winner......and that is....
Life Made Creations!

Congratulations! Send me an email at auntierere (at) bellsouth (dot) net with your address and I'll get your prize out to you right away!

Don't forget! There's still time to get in on the

for another random drawing for a great prize package!

Have a great Monday!

Scrap Tiffany Blog Hop

Welcome to the Scrap Tiffany Blog Hop! We are featuring RECYCLED projects! If you just happened to land on my blog, then you'll want to start at the beginning here. You won't want to miss one stop on the hop!

For my project, I decided to make a Junque Journal. I used mostly envelopes from junk mail and added in some pages from catalogs and magazines. I also recycled my husbands old jeans! Then I added a lot of other "junk" elements, things that would normally be trash, and used up a lot of scraps and odds and ends in my scrap supplies.

I was extremely happy with the end result. It is now my favorite! I've included photos for you with the steps to putting the journal together. Then, at the end of the post, I've included a video that shows the inside of the journal page by page where I give details of items used.

We all get tons of those junk envelopes and I finally found a good way to put them to use! Here's the steps for my project.

This was my first time using a bookbinding technique to put a book together. I made three signatures (which is just sections of the book) and sewed them into the cover. I was really surprised at how easy it was and really fun! I'll probably be doing more of that!

Then you end up with a finished journal that you can be proud of! And recycled a lot of trash in the process!

Here's the video with an inside look into my completed journal....its rather long so grab a cup of coffee and sit back and relax!

I hope you've enjoyed this stop on the hop!
Be sure to leave a comment, to be entered into a giveaway for a Scrap Tiffany kit!
I'll do a random drawing for one of her awesome kits to make a "Road Trip Album", just perfect for your summer vacations but you have to leave a comment to be entered! Will post the winner on Monday morning!

Now onto the next stop on the hop.....
It's the amazing
Jessica

But before you leave, don't forget to leave a comment!
