And now on to my project!

This was my first time using the stamps from Sweet 'n Sassy and I have to say I loved them! They are a high quality stamp and they have some of the cutest images, backgrounds and words to choose from.

The set I used was called "Your Friendship".  When I saw the stamp that said "You are my sunshine" I knew I had to have it! My oldest niece Samantha was nicknamed "Shine" almost from the moment she was born.  When she was a baby, that was her song! So anything with "sunshine" reminds me of her! I knew I had the perfect photos for these stamps.
"Your Friendship"
Here's the layout I created using the stamp set and our wonderful bakers twine.
Here's Shine!

I just loved these beautiful flowers from the stamp set. I just stamped with my archival ink from Ranger on patterned paper and cut them out. Lots of fussy cutting but I loved the result!

I then added some of my favorite bakers twine from The Twinery in Cappuccino.

I used Versamark ink with the flower stamp to create a subtle pattern on the top portion of the cardstock.
I also used the sentiment stamp on a label.

And since I loved the stamp set so much, I decided to do another quick project and made a card!

I did some heat embossing on this one using the stamps.
The sentiment is from the set as well.
Then of course added some of the fabulous Charcoal bakers twine
from The Twinery.

Don't forget to leave a comment and then you can head to Janette Olen's blog for the next stop on the hop!

Again, thanks so much for stopping by!

Washi Love!

I recently shared a challenge at For The Luv of Art using something that has quickly become a favorite of mine and that is WASHI tape!

It is all the rage in scrapbooking right now. You can find it in every color, pattern and size imaginable! Many of the scrapbooking manufacturers have jumped on the band wagon by releasing tapes in their newest lines. You can find it from American Crafts, Hambly, 7 Gypsies, and Tim Holtz, who has had the tissue tapes for some time.

Source: google.com via Sara on Pinterest

You can even make your own washi tape, like Nichole Heady did on this card below, by stamping on tissue paper that had been adhered to Scor-tape!

Nicole has a really cool tutorial on video on her blog which you can check out here. It's flippin' amazing!

Here's a layout I completed recently using washi tape:

I just love the look it adds to a project.  I'm currently trying to increase my stash of tapes bit by bit!
I'd love to see what you create with washi tape!  You can upload it to the FTLOA thread here or you can link in the comments so I can visit you!

Hope you're having a great day!

Operation Julie's Smile Blog Hop

I'm so glad you have joined us for this amazing blog hop for Operation Julie's Smile.  If you came here from Jenny Suchin's blog, then you are in the right spot. If not, you may want to start from the beginning at the Sweet Stamp Shop's blog and take your time. You have the entire weekend to hop with us and win some pretty amazing prizes!

When Nicole from The Twinery contact our design design team about the opportunity to participate in this amazing hop for our coordinator, Julie Ranae, I jumped on it! I am so thrilled that I get to be a part and help in some way. If you haven't heard Julie's story and what this hop is all about, here's a little bit so you know why you're here today

“The creative blogging community is coming together this weekend to help one of our friends, Julie Ranae.  You may know her as the Design Team Coordinator for many wonderful companies from bakers twine, die cuts, rubber stamps and more.  What many people don’t know about Julie Ranae is that she has had some pretty major dental surgeries in her lifetime due to medication she had to take as a child.  It was in her plans to think about having all of her teeth  replaced at some point in the next 5 years, a decision that was pretty easy to plan out.  But then it happened…she chipped her front teeth on a weekend a month ago. The dentist told her there was no way to save them & that it was his recommendation that she give in and have them all her teeth removed soon, but for that day, they needed to get her front teeth done so her gums could begin to heal. He said he would 'work out payments with her to have ALL this work done...but when she called to make her appt for the first step of impressions, they told her the amount of money that was needed and that the 'payments' applied only to the two teeth that were extracted that day. Her husband Paul was with her & that too, was his understanding as well. So this is how she has found herself in this situation…Needing at least $4000 to get started and another $3000 to finish the process…a total of $7000.

Nicole Rixon, owner of Sweet Stamp Shop put together this benefit after finding out about this situation and before Julie Ranae knew it, it took flight. Because she is an event organizer by trade, she has taken on the job of organizing all of the blogs in this hop as her way of ‘working overtime’ for what she needs, the same as if she were able to work overtime at an outside job to pay for the work to be done.

It is the goal of all of these generous friends & sponsors to help make this situation more do-able for our friend so that she can share a brand new smile with all of us soon.  If there is anything you can do to help with a financial donation, there is a donation button ready for you to click.  Any amount is appreciated and ALL DONATIONS will be eligible for prizes from our sponsor pool of over $2500.”

So you can see why I felt it was so important to get involved. I have worked with Julie for the past few months and am so happy that I have been able to get to know her. She is an amazing person and loves the scrapbooking community.

This is the biggest blog hop that I've ever experienced with over 120 blogs participating. You can tell Julie is loved!  Just realize with a hop this big, there is bound to be some breaks in the flow. That's ok, if you ever get lost along the way, you can always go back to Sweet Stamp Shop's blog for the complete list of blogs participating.

There are over $2500 in prizes that have been donated by the very generous companies. A complete list of sponsors is available at the Sweet Stamp Shop's blog.

Prizes will be drawn from the following:
     1.  From blog comments left
     2.  From PayPal donations list
     3.  For Blog Hop hosts

If you would like to donate to Julie's Smile fund, it would certainly be appreciated. No amount is too small and every bit helps! The link is at the top in my sidebar on the right hand side.

So, before you leave on this hop, I wanted to share a recent layout that I completed using my favorite, The Twinery Baker's twine!

I love using bakers twine on my layouts! It's gives that extra added touch!
And just as a thank you for stopping by my blog, I will be giving a RAK to one lucky person who leaves a comment on my blog during this hop.

You have until Sunday, October 11 at 11:59 pm!
Also, you'll want to leave comments because that is how you are entered in drawings for the
main prizes being given away.

And next stop on the hop is the amazing

Thanks again for stopping by and participating in the Operation Julie's Smile blog hop!

A special birthday with my girl!

First of all, I have to say, I have the best daughter in the whole world! Now I know you probably feel the same about yours and that's the way you should feel!  But I just feel extremely blessed to have such a wonderful daughter who has grown into such a wonderful young woman. Yes, I'm getting mushy, I know, but sometimes you just have to!  I am loving be a mom to a grown daughter! We have so much fun and have some great talks and just enjoy being together.

Well, last Saturday was my birthday and she had to be in Chicago for her job so she missed out spending my birthday with me. So, since I am off work on Wednesdays, she told me she wanted to take me to lunch for my birthday.  I thought that was so sweet....but she did so much more! We spent the entire day together with little surprises here and there and it was just the best girls day out ever!  So I thought I'd share a bit of it with you since it was so special to me.

So, my daughter is very adventurous and love the social scene so she is always up for trying new places and seeks out the hot spots in the city. She's always telling me, "Mom, you gotta get out of Bellevue" which is the community where we live.  She picked a very trendy place in the Green Hills area of Nashville.

First stop, Firefly Grille

It was very eclectic inside.  Mardi Gras beads hanging from the ceiling,
various birthday and anniversary banners, hanging, Christmas lights
and Christmas decorations! So fun!

The tables were worn but painted with these bright color swirls.

More decorations and pictures of various musicians all around.
(There were some producers from Sony Music at the table behind us
so I got an earful about a lot of the country artists! Very interesting!)

The food was amazing! So flavorful.
Ashley had the Roasted Duck Soup with Lentils (and something else I can't remember!)
So yummy!

I had the Bacon Wrapped Shrimp served over spinach and goat cheese pollenta.
The most amazing thing ever!

My beautiful Princess!!!!
And....because it was my birthday, the waiter said I could have my choice of dessert!
Are you kidding me?
We've been on no carbs for a month!
But today was a special day!
Ok but let's share!
We opted for the lightest choice available which was the Coconut Cake.
Now I don't know if it's just because I haven't had any sugar in over a month but this was the most
amazing cake. So moist, so good.

So, then, while still at lunch, Ashley says, "Oh, I have to go to Mac and get some makeup since we're so close to the mall."  Ok great.
Then we get inside the mall and she says "Surprise! We're going to Brighton to get a birthday charm for your bracelet!"  Ummm....detour!!!  A good detour!
For Mothers Day, she bought me a Brighton bracelet with some charms and the fun part is you can add charms to the bracelet so it's been a fun thing to update our bracelets for fun occasions!

Here's the charm and spacer she bought me for my birthday!
Doesn't it just look so cute added to my bracelet!!!
I love my girl!

Then, we still had to go to Mac! You know, we HAD to....

 Trying the lipsticks....
 Do you like this one???
Mission accomplished!!!

We took a stroll through Charming Charlies.
If you've never been to one, you must find one...quick!
Only every kind of jewelry, purse and accessory you could ever need and one in every color!

And on our way out of the mall, we had to grab a Starbucks for the road!

Thanks Princess for my special birthday celebration with you!
I had a blast!

So, mom's of young little girls, don't be sad about them growing up. It happens no matter what you do so embrace it, enjoy it and I promise, when they grow up, you'll love it just as much, if not even more! They are always your baby girl, just a grown up baby girl!

My Stop on the Hop~The Twinery

Yay! You're making your way through the hop!  Thanks for stopping by my blog today.  If you're coming through The Twinery blog hop, you should have arrived from Ivona's blog, Sugarsticks Parties.   If you just happened to land on my blog, you'll want to make sure you start from the beginning at The Twinery so you don't miss one stop! There are a lot of great giveaways so don't miss out!

I am in the process of giving my scrap area a complete makeover. I really wanted to do something fun using my bakers twine that I could display in my room. After browsing the craft stores and brainstorming to see what I could come up with, this is what I finally decided on.

My original idea was to completely wrap the letters but as I began the process, I found that it was going to be virtually impossible to get all those corners wrapped without making the rest of it look wonky (is that a word???).  So I improvised and made it work this way!

Here's how I started:

Found these bare wood letters and block at Michael's.  They were a couple bucks each but I really liked the shape of the letters so I grabbed them.

After spray painting them black, I began wrapping with my bakers twine.
I used Maraschino,  Caribbean, and Lemondrop.

Then I used patterned paper and Mod Podge to cover the block.
(You can see I didn't go with my original plan of the camera papers. Didn't like it so I covered it again with a smaller print paper which I liked much better)

Once everything dried and set, I then just hot glued the letters to the block and added a few extra embellishments. Now I have a decor item for my scrap room that represents a bit of what I do with a product I love....and that is THE TWINERY baker's twine!

It really was an easy project and went much smoother than I even expected! Hopefully it's inspired you to make a little something that represents what you love!

Before you go, I want to share some Twinery goodness with one of my blog readers. The Twinery has so generously given me one of their wonderful Ultimate Color Sampler Packs to give away to one of my lucky readers! That's a $25 value!

All you have to do is leave me a comment telling me which one of the beautiful colors of The Twinery bakers twine is your favorite! That's it!

{Winner will be announced Sunday evening right here on my blog. Comments will be open until a winner is posted.
International readers, this is for you too!
Please leave your email in your comment so I can contact you. Winner will have two days to respond and claim your prize and if no response, a new winner will be chosen. One comment per person, please}

Your next stop on the hop is Angelica where you'll find more creative inspiration using The Twinery bakers twine!

Here's the lineup for Thursday, just in case you get lost along the way!
                              Sheri Twing  <<----you're here!
Have fun on the hop! Don't forget to check back Sunday evening to see if you're the winner!
