It seems this past year has been full of this same scene for us. Not one I'm particularly fond of. Today we said goodbye, again, to the last of our family. Mom and Hugo had left last week and then today, we said goodbye to Kristi and the kids. There were tears and lots of hugs, not wanting to let go. But the planes won't wait so we said our goodbyes and came home to a very quiet house, something we haven't had in a few weeks. Of course, there were remains of the kids left behind, toys that need to be shipped, Kameron and Brooklin's cups from ICE Grinch that need to be shipped because they wouldn't fit in the suitcases, and then there were still the remains of the eggshells Brooklin had cracked this morning when I was scrambling her some eggs, and Shine's earrings she forgot on the table in the hall....all of these, just a reminder of them being here just a few short hours ago. Needless to say, tears began when I came home to the silence and seeing their things. We are missing them so much. Ashley said tonight, "I don't know what to do....it's so quiet now and the kids aren't here." It will take a few days but we'll adjust, I guess.
We did, however, have a great time. I have lots of pictures to share and lots of stories. But for now, I just decided to take the Christmas background off my blog and share a short post to let you know we're still here. I'll share more soon!

Sis..we miss you all very much. When we were on the escalator from getting off the plane in CA..Brooklin said, "Mommy, is Aunt Sheri picking us up?", then she realized that we were in CA and not Nashville. The goodbyes were horrible and we miss you all...we did have a great time with you all. You always do a great job at making sure anyone who comes in your home feels welcome and you always ensure a good feeling while there. We hated to say goodbye.
ReplyDeleteThank you again for everything. We love you!!
BTW...your blog is adorable. I love it!!!
This brought tears to my eyes...I feel your pain. I am so glad that you were blessed to be able to spend some time together, but the goodbyes are so painful. Praying for you. BTW, I agree with Kristi, your blog is absolutely adorable!!
ReplyDeleteLarena, thanks for your nice comments. I know if anyone understands what we're feeling, it's you! It's tough but God helps us through it! Love you!
