For those of you who have noticed the link on the right side of my blog for Project 365 and are wondering what that's all about, I thought I'd share a little with you today.Project 365 is a wonderful idea that a designer had to be able to capture a tidbit of your life everyday for a whole year. Much of the "scrapbooking world" has been bit by the Project 365 bug. I was not immune!
So, my commitment is to take one photo everyday that represents something in my life for that particular day. What I love about this concept, is that I will not be capturing just the events or places I might go, or the planned photos but also the ones that I wouldn't normally capture. Such as that wonderful cup of coffee that I have in the morning in my favorite coffee cup, or the stack of paperwork on my desk that needs to be cleared that day, or maybe an event in history or something big from that day. It could be anything....it's about you!
It may seem odd to some people but I think it's important to catch the little things that make up our life. So, this kit helps to keep those arranged and in order. For each photo, I will also do journaling about why I chose that picture or what that picture represents or maybe I'll just simply say, "Ahh, my favorite mug!" The options are endless and there is no right or wrong way. More importantly is that at the end of the year I will have something from everyday from that year to look back on and reflect and enjoy, even the things I might have forgotten about otherwise.
So I hope that explains a little bit about Project 365. If you'd like to participate, it's not too late! It doesn't necessarily have to start January 1st.....you can start whenever! I've been keeping up with it so far and while it is sometimes a challenge to find that one photo that represents my day, I've enjoyed seeking out the everyday things that I would normally take for granted.
If you need ideas for your picture a day, follow the link below for 365 ideas from Creating Keepsakes Magazine.
http://www.creatingkeepsakes.com/images/stories/magazines/creating_keepsakes/January2009/365ideas.pdfI'll be sharing some of my photos I'm taking. If you decide to participate, then share yours too! And by the way, you don't need the kit to do this project. There are many people doing it on their own with the supplies they have and there is also some digital downloads that are free if you are a digital scrapbooker. If you're interested in knowing more about the digital downloads, leave me a comment and I'll get back to you.
Have fun!

I can't wait to see all your photos!
ReplyDeleteI did a project with Wyatt and Delaney last month and made books called "A Day in the Life of . . . " I followed them around for an entire day and took pictures of everything even the small details like their tooth brushes. I plan on doing it once a year because you forget all the little things.
Maybe I should do the 365 project too.
OMG!!!Its such a cute kit...i can't wait for mine to come.
ReplyDeleteOK, now I get it! I'm glad you cleared up the mystery. I think I may try this. 365 may be diving in at the deep end for me...my project may be something like 231 or 183 or something like that... but it sounds fun and I want to jump on the project train!
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, yes, Jocelyn and Jan. this is an easy way to scrapbook without all the stuff. People have this idea of scrapbooking that you have to have all this crap like we do. You don't...that's not what its all about. Its about documenting your life. There are very inexpensive ways to do that. We just are addicted to all the "stuff", that's all.
ReplyDeleteJump in both of you. I don't even have my kit yet but I'm taking pics everyday and writing in a word doc(thx sis), what is in those pics. Easy!!
