Well, my hubby bought me a sewing machine for Christmas after me whining about wanting one, nothing fancy I said, just a regular ol' sewing machine. I kid you not, the only time this thing has been used was at Christmas when Kristi was here and she was trying to show me how to use it. After that, in the closet it went!
Well, I decide, you know what? I'm gonna pull that thing out and figure out how to get this thing working. I cannot tell you how long I worked on this stupid thing! I spent what seemed like forever trying to get it to work. It kept getting stuck and jamming, then I was ending up with all this thread bunching up under what I was sewing, then stuck again, then oh my Lord, CALL MOM! So, after American Idol, of course, (which by the way, I was very disappointed in...I know, I am so not with the "popular" vote but sorry, Adam just rocked!) Anyway, I called Mom, spent oh, I don't know, AN HOUR trying to figure the thing out! Well, is the bobbin in wrong, well is the tension set wrong, is the thread in right, blah, blah, blah.....Finally at about 12 midnight, I said forget it! I'm done.
(I know, this post is going on forever....feels like T's blog huh? LOL, love your posts T!)
Well, I get up this morning and decide to give it another round, after I had searched online to see if I had the correct bobbins, even though they're the ones that came with the machine! So, I go over and play with the machine again.....looking at the manual AGAIN and voila! there's my problem! There's a little hook that should come out of the top of the machine to put the thread through! Duh! Did that and perfecto! Works great! I guess I just needed a little sleep and coffee to figure it out!Anyway, I am playing with some fun stuff in my "studio" (ha ha, just sounds fun to say that!). I'm taking the "Collage Couture" class from Sistv and so far, it's pretty cool. This is the beginning, I got really behind yesterday because of the whole sewing machine thing. Did I tell you that's why I don't sew?

So, I will post my masterpiece as soon as I am finished. Until then, if you hear me scream, then you know, the sewing machine demon has resurfaced!

I can't wait to see it!
ReplyDeleteYou are so funny about the sewing machine (and brought back terrible memories for ME). I bought a Bernina (AND a serger!)some years ago and only made a messful of plastic bag holders for Christmas gifts (I couldn't figure out how to make Lauren some elastic-waisted shorts. Wait! That was sometime ago then).
ReplyDeleteThe instructor put me in a classful of Kindergarten kids who had stepstools under their feet bc they couldn't touch the ground. I quit when they started rolling their eyes and mumbling about that lady who always needs help. Ok, I admit, that's a pride issue, but I was so done.
