Stockings are hung!

We've been busily working to get the house ready for Christmas. This is my absolute favorite time of year! Hubby just loves when Ashley and I start talking about decorating because he knows that means pulling out all of the decorations and that means a lot of work!

I have a lot of Christmas decorations and I love every one of them. I really do use them all. When we made our big move from California to Tennessee, it was right after Christmas, so I really went through everything and got rid of stuff that I did not use. I can honestly say that I really do use all my decorations.

I have a system now since I do have quite a few totes and boxes of Christmas decor! I have each tote numbered and I have a spreadsheet that lists everything that is in each numbered tote. This has saved me and my marriage! LOL. It takes a little more work when putting everything away but the next year at Christmas, I'm always so glad I took the time to do it. So when I'm decorating and I need the red poinsetta flowers that I used on the mantel, I know exactly which tote those are in. Or if I need the Christmas table runners, I know exactly where to look without digging through 60 totes! It's wonderful!

Just a few decorations around the house......a dear friend from California gave me this beautiful globe the Christmas before we moved and it is so special to me.
I have to put it out every year now because when my niece Brooklyn comes to visit she loves to turn it on. It lights up and plays Christmas music, and the little people inside dance around. If she ever just walks by and finds it off, she will turn it on and just leave it. She loves it!

The Christmas bears became a tradition when my daughter was young. The very first year she was born, her grandparents started buying her these dated Christmas bears. Now if it was only one set of grandparents, that would have been one thing, but then both grandparents would buy them. Then the great-grandparents started. We saved them from year to year and every year they get put out all around the house. They are all tagged with who gave each one to her. Then when she leaves home, she'll get to take them all with her! (Her fiance is thrilled with that!)
It's really cool to look at them and see who gave them to her. She has several from her great grandparents who have passed away but she still enjoys the bears they gave her when she was little.

The stockings are all hung and everything is ready to go! It looks like Christmas exploded in our house! I'm so excited that my whole family is visiting this year. Yes, that's a lot of people! My sister and her hubby and my three nieces and nephew, my grandmother, who I haven't seen in almost two years, and my mom, who is actually moving to Nashville this month! So I'm very excited about this year.......

Hope you have some fun plans as well! Have a great day!

If you're talking about the one I'm carrying inside of me, I promise you won't be able to hold her for a couple more months. haha!
So unless I'm missing one there are 2 nieces coming to visit.
Very nice decorating...did you say 60 containers?? hhmm? I think you've got me beat, however, you do have smaller containers than I do...but still I think you have me beat.
Great post and can't wait to see the decor in person.

  6. Your many many totes always make me smile. I have even told people that don't know you about how many totes you have. I don't know anyone else that decorates for Christmas like you do!

  7. Spreadsheet? Really? I think there might be a 12 step program for that! LOL I think you and Kim need to come to my house and kick me in gear for Christmas. Your house looks beautiful. And we collected those bears for our Ashley too. I can't say that they lasted through all the military moves. I put the names on ornaments and decorations that have been given to us by friends over the years. Our friend Dan made me a hand cut wooden snowman set that I just love. He was killed by an underage drunk driver 3 years ago. I cry every year when I put it out, but I love that I have a small piece of him with us always. I hope you and your beautiful family have a wonderful Christmas together.

  8. Your numbering system is very smart and even though I do not have 60 totes (holy cow!!) I may have to implement it this year :)
