And my first attempt at painting my handwriting! Not perfect but art is not meant to be perfect right? I'm ok with that! Now for the steps in how I completed the project, just in case you want to step out of your box! LOL
I started with a blank white canvas board that I picked up at Michaels or Hobby Lobby, can't remember which.
I used Liquitex acrylic paints in the turquoise and blue. But I first covered the canvas with gesso, let it dry, then added the paint. I put a little paint on a pallet but then added a little water too. I just painted the two colors around different parts of the canvas. I had an accident that actually turned into something I liked. In using the water, I actually used too much and it started to puddle, so I took a paper towel to dab some of it off, and it left the greatest texture! I love when that happens!
Here's just a few of the supplies I used.....the wings and heart embellishments are Tim Holtz Grungeboard.
I painted the wings white and then sprinkled Martha Stewarts glitter on them. I loved this glitter for the wings. It's not the fine glitter. It's actually called marble glitter. Really cool stuff!
Then I painted the hearts in a fuschia pink. While they were still tacky, I took some white paint on my finger and just smeared it in. Once it was dry, I used one of my script stamps and just stamped the image on the top.
Once my pieces were dry, I began to put them together. I added some feathers behind the wings just to add to the feeling of the wings. Used the Big Bite Crop-a-dile to punch a couple of holes in the canvas board, added tulle and voila! My finished project!
I hope maybe this encourages you to try something new. I've been wanting to try something like this, I just never did. I will tell you it was so fun and really didn't take long at all!Be sure to go over to Scrap Tiffany and check out the other designers projects. There's a great variety of creations using the wing theme. Also, Tiffany has just added some new design team members so there's even more eye candy for you to drool over! They're all great!
