Technique Lift

This week's challenge for Scrap Tiffany is a fun one! The challenge is to scrap-lift a technique! I love trying new things so I was all for this one. First, let me share my layout with you.....

I actually lifted two techniques!
Both of them are from the very talented Jeni Boisvert!

The first technique was to make my own background paper using Shimmerz mist. You could also use Glimmer Mist or any other kind of spray in you have on hand.
The photo above and below shows the background paper.

First I selected my 3 colors I wanted to use.
Then I sprayed the colors diagonally on the page in 3 different sections. While the paper was still damp, I crumpled it and smooshed it creating wrinkles to add texture. I then smoothed it out a little, creating creases on purpose.I let it dry, then began adding my elements and photo to the paper.

The next technique I lifted from Jeni was these great flowers! I love learning how to make new flowers....you can never have too many!
I started by cutting strips of text paper. I used a page from an old magazine I picked up from a thrift store and I used strips from a page out of an old hymnal. (Yes, I did and I didn't get struck by lightning!)
You then take the strips and began folding them creating a circular shape while stapling as you go.
I then sprayed the flowers with Shimmers Spritz. I sprayed several coats, letting them dry in between so I would get good coverage on the flowers.
I added some buttons and other embellishments to the center of the flowers. I love how they look on the page!
If you'd like to check out more of Jeni's technique, you can see her video here on the Shimmerz website.

And make sure you check out Scrap Tiffany for the other great techniques that were lifted by the other designers! They're all great!

Have a great Monday!
