I wanted to share a project that I made recently. I got a wild hair to create a butterfly mobile. I had a stack of cardboard boxes ready for recycling when I decided to tear one apart for my mobile.
You can see that I just used bits and pieces of embellishments on the mobile. I'll share more about that later in the post.
First, I printed the butterfly templates on cardstock simply by using the shapes in Photoshop Elements. I made them 3 different sizes. I traced the shapes on the cardboard then cut out by hand. I wanted some of the corrugated areas exposed so I pulled back the first layer of the cardboard.
Then I used acrylic paint watered down a bit to paint sections of the butterflies and splattered the paint as well. Make sure you cover your work area well before you splatter. You'll be amazed at where those splatters end up regardless of how careful you are! Trust me from experience! LOL
Once the butterflies were dry, I began adding embellishments at random. I really had no specific idea, just what I could find in front of me. I keep a couple of small tins on my worktable that I keep miscellaneous bits and pieces in. After I have used my monthly kits, I usually have some bits and baubles left so I just throw them in the tin along with any tiny scraps of lace or ribbons. Then when I need just a little touch of something, I can always find what I need in those little tins!
Once the embellishments were on, I string them all together adding different punch shapes and ribbons in between.
This little embellishment was made using 5 circles from my scallop circle punch. Folded in half and adhered together with the twine in the center.
Thanks for stopping by! Hope you have a great Wednesday!
